AERALIS WELCOMES MPs TO SPECIAL EVENT AT THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
AERALIS was pleased to welcome Members of Parliament to a special session in the House of Commons on Wednesday afternoon.
In an open event co-sponsored by MPs Dame Caroline Dinenage MP DBE, Alan Gemmell MP OBE and Ben Obese-Jecty, members of the House of Commons were invited to meet with the AERALIS team to see for themselves the maturity of the Phoenix programme, and, with our detailed plans for industrialisation through the AERTEAM™ consortium of partners, how we will deliver the first British designed and built fast jet trainer for 50 years – in time to succeed the Red Arrows’ Hawk T1 as it is retired in 2030, and the Hawk T2 used for training our fast jet pilots.
Both Mr Obese-Jecty and Mr Gemmell addressed the attendees, speaking to the opportunities presented by the AERALIS programme for the UK, in terms of economic growth, industrial development and sovereign defence capability.
The timing of the event was of course, prescient, coming only two days after the Government released its highly anticipated Strategic Defence Review, in which it confirmed its commitment to replace Hawks with a ‘cost-effective fast jet trainer’.
Offering through-life cost savings in excess of 50%, the AERALIS programme has cost-effectiveness in its DNA, but unlike any other fast jet trainer, it also offers the UK a compelling opportunity for export revenue, with a finely tuned proposition to meet the rising demands of allied air forces around the world.
We are very grateful to the many Members of Parliament who took time out of their very busy schedules to meet with our team as well as to our AERTEAM™ partners Hamble Aerostructures Ltd and StandardAero for their support.
