The Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) is the initial variant that AERALIS will put into production and serves as the core platform for the modular family.

The AJT configuration elevates basic training towards advanced tactical instruction, simulation of combat handling and preparation for frontline aircraft. This variant incorporates advanced swept wings, offering speed and manoeuvrability and can be configured as a single or twin engine as required.

The AJT’s performance and handling characteristics also make it ideally suited to high-end, jet display flying.

Following completion of the AJT, the AERALIS programme will transition to development of the other variants within the AERALIS family, providing nations with access to the complete, interoperable range of AERALIS aircraft and enhancing fleet flexibility, capability, and long term strategic value.

Benefits of the AERALIS system

Massive commonality = Lower costs

A modular fleet shares up to 85% of parts across variants. That means fewer spares, simpler maintenance, reduced training needs, and streamlined certification – eliminating the cost and complexity of operating multiple unrelated aircraft types.

Flexibility across the lifecycle

Modularity isn’t about switching roles daily. It allows aircraft to be reconfigured over years, moving from high stress tasks (like training or aggressor roles) into less dynamic ones (like ISR), extending airframe life, maximising value, and supporting future crewed or uncrewed transitions.

Sovereign growth and customisation

A shared core lets nations develop their own modules – wings, sensors, propulsion, mission systems – on a proven platform. This lowers barriers to indigenous capability, reduces upgrade costs, and strengthens sovereign control.
