Tuesday night’s piece by BBC News North summarises succinctly the options available to the UK Government regarding the future training aircraft that will equip the Red Arrows and be a natural replacement for the Hawk jets that train our future fast jet pilots.

With AERALIS offering the only privately financed, British-designed jets, to be assembled in Scotland in line with the UK Government’s commitments to grow sovereign defence capability and give Scotland a source of major new technology exports, the UK Government now faces a clear opportunity… with the Hawk retiring in a matter of years, decisions must now be taken.
